比較

2つ以上のものを比べるときは、形容詞・副詞を比較級や最上級に変えます。短い語は -er / -est、長い語は前に more / most を置きます。

基本の形

ポイント

• 比較級：-er ＋ than「…より〜」（taller than）。長い語は more 〜（more popular）。
• 最上級：the -est ＋ in / of「…の中で一番〜」。長い語は the most 〜。
• 同等比較：as 〜 as …「…と同じくらい〜」（〜は元の形）。

例文

1. Our teacher is stronger than Ken.
   私たちの先生はケンより力が強いです。
   比較級は strong → stronger。than 〜「〜より」。
2. My sister is stronger than Ken.
   私の姉はケンより力が強いです。
   比較級は strong → stronger。than 〜「〜より」。
3. Tom is the tallest in our class.
   トムはクラスで一番背が高いです。
   最上級は the tallest。範囲を表す「〜の中で」は in our class。
4. Tom is the youngest in the team.
   トムはチームで一番年下です。
   最上級は the youngest。範囲を表す「〜の中で」は in the team。
5. Tom is busier than our teacher.
   トムは私たちの先生より忙しいです。
   比較級は busy → busier。than 〜「〜より」。
6. Ken is the tallest in our class.
   ケンはクラスで一番背が高いです。
   最上級は the tallest。範囲を表す「〜の中で」は in our class。

よくある間違い

• ✕ He is more taller than me.
  ○ He is taller than me.
  -er と more を両方つけることはありません。
• ✕ She is the tallest of our class.
  ○ She is the tallest in our class.
  グループや場所には in、数や同じ種類の仲間には of（of the three）を使います。
• ✕ This is more good.
  ○ This is better.
  good / well の比較級は better、最上級は best です。

覚えるコツ

• 不規則な変化：good / well → better → best、bad → worse → worst、many / much → more → most
• not as 〜 as …「…ほど〜ではない」もよく出ます。
